Dream Trip: Bonnaroo Pt. 2

This is Part 2 of my Dream Trip to Bonnaroo. So, in the first part, I explained what attracts me to Bonnaroo, the bands I would see, and what I would carry around with me at this amazing event. Now the only aspect to fantasize about more deeply is what to wear.

I feel like the outfit you wear to any festival is as crucial as the bands you choose to see. Theres so many things to take into consideration:

• weather


• genre of music


• type of town


• type people

Now this isn't to say that you shouldn't dress the way you want, or that you should censor your personal style. But I personally wouldn't wear anything with long sleeves if the weather is going to be anything above 80 degrees. And I wouldn't suggest wearing cute strappy gladiator sandals to a metal show, because if you end up in the pit, your feet are going to be stomped on, hard. You also wouldn't see me wearing a short skirt in Oakland after a festival ends at 11. I also would not advise wearing any of those upside down cross jewelry to a christian rock show, just out of respect.
I'm not pointing this out to make you scared or nervous, I'm just suggesting to use some common sense. If your not sure about an outfit, bring a change of clothes. You'll get a feel for everything once you hit the parking lot and see all the people walking around.

Now, onto my Bonnaroo outfits! Bonnaroo is a 5 day event, so, I've made outfits for each day.

I have visible tattoos, so spf is a must to keep them lookin' good. And I have gotten sun burned at festivals before. Not fun feeling like a piece of bacon outside under the scorching sun.
I have my own pair of the Steve Madden cowboy boots shown above. I currently have a obsession with cowboy boots, and you will see that in some of the outfits!

Have I ever mentioned that I'm also a makeup artist? Well I am, so I don't care how hot it's going to be, I'm putting on some powder, pot rouge, and lashes.

I am also very stubborn with my style. I love wearing black, even in the summer, so I chose a short black strappy dress, with a fan accessory so that I don't have heat stroke, and Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer so I don't have to worry about any powder or foundation melting off.
I'm also stubborn about shoes. I can't stand sneakers, and the only time you will ever see me wearing running shoes out of the house is at the gym. I love heels, boots, and flats, so I chose a pair of cut out black wedges. The wedge will be comfortable enough to wear all day (for pro heel wear-ers) and the cut out will keep feet from over heating.

GASP! No black?! Actually I have jet black hair, so the Universe is well! XD

If it wasnt for my tattoos, I'd feel too dainty to wear an outfit like this.

I don't know what exactly the straps do on these shorts, but they were so badass that I had to use them.

The gray beanie is to hide my inevitably messy dirty hair and the Ralph Lauren Hot is a great summer scent. Combined with a sultry purple smokey eye, your ready to look rocker-festival-chic and celebrate the last day of Bonnaroo.

Ah, now I must excuse myself to listen to some Kings of Leon/Norah Jones and daydream about Bonnaroo. But while I'm away in Lala Land, tell me that you think! Would you wear any of these oufits on your dream trip? What would you wear/worn to festivals/concerts?

Dream Trip: Bonnaroo

If I could have 3 wishes, one of them would be to go to Bonnaroo this year. Oh is would be so amazing! Besides local small town festivals, the only other big festival that I've been to is Ozzfest when I was 17. (Which was SO amazing because we snuck backstage for the second stage bands and got to stand on stage while the band were playing! Ah, but that's a story for a later post...)

What makes is even better is that Bonnaroo is held in Tennessee. Manchester, Tennessee to be exact. Just 60 miles of Nashville, Tennessee, a place where I would love to be and plan on moving to someday (This would be my 2nd wish.). Oh my, I love the south, I love the accents, and I love rock n roll.

So who would I want to see at this amazing 5 day event?

• Conan O'Brien


• Kings Of Leon (I'm such a huge dorky fan of them!)


• Tenacious D (I've been a fan of them ever since I saw The Pick of Destiny.


• Damian Marley and Nas (Say whaaaa?!?!)


• Regina Spektor


• She & Him


• OK Go (Because I like to shake my booty;))

I know the list is short, but more artist are going to be announced as the festival gets closer. I love being around music, and going to live shows will help you discover, respect, and love a band. Seriously, I did NOT like System Of A Down, but after Ozzfest I had SO MUCH respect for them because they put on an amazing show. I would pay to see them again.

Steps To Shake Off A Rude Comment

It happens to the best of us, someone makes a comment that gets under your skin and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Someone has made a remark to you or even near you that has insulted or upset you and now you have some ticked off emotions to deal with. Okay, it's over, your whole day is screwed and there's nothing that can done to fix the dark cloud that has been bestowed upon you! Or is there...

Steps To Shake Off A Rude Comment

1. Take a deep breath.


2. Take a break.
   If you were in the middle of a conversation when the remark slipped, remove yourself from the conversation. If you are in a situation (meeting, car ride, classroom) take another deep breath and keep composure (like the adult that you are), until you can excuse yourself.


3. Take a walk or go sit somewhere quite (bench, bathroom, car, ect)


4. While walking and/or sitting, take the time to reflect on the rude comment.
   Why did it bother you? How does it reflect you as a person and any insecurities that you have? Do you feel like it validated any internal fears that you have?
   Was it in bad taste or are you just being sensitive? Does this persons opinion matter to you? Does it change your opinion at all?


5. Check your attitude.
   Odds are, that after your reflect on the situation, your mind will be open enough to realize "Hey, I'm amazing! And whatever provoked their comment is just a reflection of who they are. I'm still as awesome as I was 20 minutes ago and now I'm going to continue having a good day". If your not already thinking this, say it, or whatever else helps lift your spirits.


6. Take another deep breathe, smile and go about your day.

Don't:

• Don't trying to analyze the comment in the same moment it was released. Unless you have an amazing bounce back mentality, you're going to end up smoldering and getting more upset. REMOVE yourself from the situation, even it's across the room or to a taxi.


• Don't bother saying anything to this person. Because you have end up insulting them (which isn't going to help you in any way) or they may not give a crap about what you think. So why waste the energy? Especially if the person really doesn't matter to you or you realize your being ultra sensitive.


• Don't forget to breathe. Oxygen to the brain= more clarity.

What Kind Of Level Are You?

When you are feeling up or down, where do the people around you stand? When you feel happy, blissful, filled with glee, do you send off your positive vibes to the people around you? Or more importantly (i.e. what inspired this article), when you are feeling miserable, do all the people around you have to feel the same?

It seems that for some people, when they are not happy, everyone around them have to suffer. And this is completely ridiculous! Not to mention childish. Unless you are venting to a close friend during a hangout session, no one around you should have your crappy emotions put on them.

How do you know is you are putting your heavy load onto others? Here are a few everyday examples:
Work: Do you completely ignore your coworkers because your in "no mood to talk"? Even the ones who are always sweet to you? Are you rolling your eyes at people who are excited or laughing?
Public: Are you glaring at strangers? Giving attitude to your barista? Are you completely ignoring people who smile at you?
Friends/Family: Are you forcing the topic to be on how *melo*dramatic your life is, even after that person has allowed you to spill your guts? Are you adding bitter commentary onto other persons sweet moment?

Those are just a few examples. Now dont go into a shame spiral if you find yourself identifying with a few of them. The great part: its easy to turn it around. It really isnt that hard to act charming. It takes 2 seconds to smile, 1 breath to say thank you, and no time wasted to throw out a compliment. Even though your stressed, or tired, or sad doesnt mean the people around you have to be the same. Plus, when you make a effort to be pleasant, the people around you will respect and appreciate you more. Its the more mature way to act, and will make you feel better in the long run. You never know, being happy for a coworkers promotion (even when your suffering from your own demise) may open you up and help you forget about your own problem for a while and feel more positive about your future.

How do you know if you are throwing out some positive, loving vibes?
Are you smiling? Are you making people laugh? Are people excited to see you? Are you having a energized conversation? Do you feel like you, and the people who you are interacting with, are walking away feeling refreshed and uplifted?

Yes? Bingo!

1920's Makeup Oohlala

This video seriously impressed me. I honestly have never seen 20's makeup done so well and authentic. The model she chose was perfect and she makes the application look so easy.

How To Spend Your Alone Time

It seems that as you get older you have less and less time to spend by yourself. There are moments for you to unwind, watch some mindless tv, and clean out your inbox, but what about the moments for yourself.

It's so important to make time for yourself during the day. That time of the day where you take a moment to write down your thoughts, meditate, draw/paint, read a stimulating book, or anything that brings you back to center. When we become to tired, aka too lazy, to make time for ourselves, it throws us off track. It stops the creative flow, energy levels lower, and personal confidence plummets.

I am totally guilt of this, my life is so fast paced that when I come home all I want to do is sit down and do nothing. The outcome of that is that I feel less inspired and motivated from the lack of reflection/creative time. Whereas if I had taken the time to finish that book I was reading, complete that drawing, or meditate I would have finished off the day feeling even more accomplished, energized, and grateful.

Even if you can only give 10 minutes a day to yourself its enough, here are some ideas of how to spend your free time:

• Write in a Journal.
  I suggest actually writing rather than tying on to an online journal. The acting of writing furiously onto paper all of your thoughts feels much more releasing.


• Have a bubble bath


• Painting
  The colors! The brushes! The canvas! The mess! But most of all, the end result.


• Reading
  Make sure its something stimulating. Something that makes you stop, think, ponder, feel. I love philosophy and self-help books. But fiction can help to brighten your imagination and biography's can inspire.


• Meditating


• Scrapbook or make a LookBook


• Drawing
  Unleash your inner artist!


• Take a walk.


• Writing/Reading Poetry
  Unlock your emotions.


• Exercise


• Facial + Mani/Pedi


• Knit/Crochet
  This feels like another form of meditation, haha.


• Play a instrument.


• Learn something new.
  (language, religion, culture, instrument, dance move, ect.)

And those are just a few examples! There are so many other ways of spending raw, real, rewarding (RRR) time with yourself.
